ORSTAT is a mobile app and web-based dashboard designed to communicate and manage the Turnover process within hospital Operating Rooms. I executed UX Research, User Personas, development of a new "parallel" task schedule, UX/UI design of both the web-based management dashboard and the employee mobile app.
Task Schedule Design
A solution was needed to solve what I discovered to be a nation-wide problem within hospital operating rooms – Turnover tasks were performed one after the other, OR staff often waited in the hall way for another task to be completed! Many Turnovers require 70%-100% more time than targeted!
I came up with the idea to schedule staff and tasks at the same time (when possible) to greatly reduce the overall time of a turnover.  For example, 3 disciplines (teams) now enter a room to clean, remove equipment and remove utensils.
Below is the schedule I designed:
Critical Staff Communication
To solve the problem of one single OR manager attempting to communicate with up to 120 staff, anesthesiologists and surgeons, department-wide communication needed to be automatic. I designed the mobile app with Push Notifications and easy to understand button-based interaction due to many Staff who were Spanish speaking only.
On the first day of testing, not only did Spanish speaking staff learn and adopt this app, they actually created their own competition to see who could complete the most cleaning tasks "on time" in one 8-hour shift!
Housekeeping teams reported that duplicate teams no longer arrived at the same room at the same time for the same task. This proved to save up to 5 minutes per Turnover from reduced time running around a 22-room department looking for another room to clean.
Below is the original design for the mobile app.

The product demo video is a great way to view the dashboard and mobile app in action.
